Our services

More branches, more telephone advisers, more internet services

You’ll eventually have access to a larger range of banking, savings, investment, insurance and mortgage services from the expanded network, which will comprise of more than 300 branches and 20 corporate banking centres, as well as more UK-based call centres and a stronger online presence.

All of this integration will, of course, take time but we will be doing everything we can to bring you these benefits as soon as possible. Where there are two branches in the same town, they may be merged over time to avoid duplication of services. We have announced that this will not involve any compulsory redundancies amongst branch staff.

A merger of this size and scope means that, in the short term, both Britannia and The Co-operative Financial Services will have to continue operating their own products, branch networks and systems. This means that, for the time being, you’ll be able to operate your Britannia accounts as usual. Until the businesses are fully integrated, Britannia customers will not be able to transact in a branch of The Co-operative Bank for their Britannia accounts and policies.

An ethical approach

At Britannia, we believe in operating ethically in all aspects of our business. We’re proud of our ethical and environmental commitment and are continually looking for new ways to incorporate an ethical approach into our business.

In 1992, The Co-operative Bank became the first UK high street bank to launch a customer-led Ethical Policy that set out where they would and would not invest their customers’ money. As a result, they are committed to regularly reviewing this Ethical Policy in line with customers’ views on the ethical issues facing the world today.

Every business that applies for lending or banking with The Co-operative Bank is screened to ensure that they don't conflict with the Bank’s Ethical Policy. If they fail the screening process, the Bank won't do business with them.

The merger reflects our common belief in ethical and socially responsible business practices.
