Notice of confirmation

Britannia had to apply to the Financial Services Authority (FSA) for formal confirmation of the merger proposal with The Co-operative Financial Services, which our eligible members voted in favour of. Before deciding whether to confirm the merger, the FSA has to consider representations from interested parties.

Interested parties were required to inform the FSA of their intention to make an oral representation, or provide a written representation, by 1 June 2009. Interested parties who expressed an intention to make an oral representation to the FSA were invited to a confirmation hearing on 26 June 2009 at which the FSA heard their representation.

The FSA issued formal confirmation of the transfer of the business of Britannia Building Society to The Co-operative Bank p.l.c. on 24 July 2009. Following this, the merger between Britannia Building Society and The Co-operative Financial Services took place on 1 August 2009.
