Following the vote at our Annual General Meeting on 29 April 2009, Britannia members supported the Board’s recommendation to merge with The Co-operative Financial Services.

Both Britannia and The Co-operative Financial Services had been pursuing successful strategies independently and were strong in their own right. However, we recognised that we could be even stronger by coming together, and that we will be better placed to provide a fair and ethical alternative to shareholder and government owned banks.

Bringing the businesses together will take around three years but we'll be working as quickly as possible to offer members a full range of products and services.

Initially, you’ll see very little change as we are committed to working as normal. This means that the products, passbooks and cash cards that you’re familiar with will continue to operate in the same way as before, as will Britannia branches.

We’ll be keeping customers updated about changes as and when they occur.
