Education Initiatives
At Britannia we believe that we have an important role to play in the wider community and we recognise the contribution that our people can make to the success of our community involvement.
- is a national volunteering scheme that brings together business volunteers and schools.
- is an education programme we have developed to improve financial capability.
- and Britannia have been up and running since late 2006 and already there are over 20 willing volunteers based at Leek with plans to extend this across the Group.
Volunteering is a tool for learning and development via real life activities whilst at the same time making a difference in our local communities.
In 2007, Britannia employees spent 2444 hours volunteering for community programmes. In 2008, this rose to 6977 hours and in 2009 it rose again to 12,023!
As part of putting together our education initiatives, we commissioned a survey of more than 1000 14-19 year olds about their attitudes to finance. One of the key results showed that nearly 60% of youngsters have received no financial education in schools.
Our work supports the Money Advice Service, helping consumers understand financial services in the UK and manage their finances better. For impartial information and tools that can help you work out what's right for you visit the

Personal Finance Education Group
(PFEG) and the Staffordshire Partnership.
